Greg Guiler Basketball News
Summer Slam 2015 Successful
The two, week-long sessions in June brought together numerous hoopsters who created a fun environment for honing skills, competing in a variety of games/contests, and growing in character. Boys and girls from all over the metroplex (and even world!) invested so much positive energy toward making the camps better than ever. A special thanks goes out to the instructors, whose enthusiasm and rich playing/coaching experiences from across the spectrum fostered in participants a love for the game and inspired them to invest 100%. It was SUCH a fun summer!
Coach Guiler Named Coach of the Year 2013
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches named Greg Guiler as the state's Most Outstanding Coach among large private schools! "It was an honor to be nominated, much less given this prestigious award! There are so many tremendous coaches across this great basketball state, and I am humbled to think that the TABC would be so generous to our program. This award is a testament to the incredibly hard-working players I get to work with, the assistants and sub-varsity coaches I am fortunate enough to have on my staff, and the support we so faithfully receive from St. Mark's administrators and fans. What a privilege it is to be a part of the Lion pride!" said Guiler upon receiving the award.
New Clinic Added in 2014: Thanksgiving Hoop Feast
It's Thanksgiving, which means everyone is hungry... for some extra hoops!! What better way to start the basketball season than by joining other players at Coach Guiler's newest annual offering - the 2-day Thanksgiving Hoop Feast clinic! So give thanks and sign up for a first (and second!) serving of all-day fun!
Guiler inducted into Hall of Fame 2012
As a four-year starting point guard for his varsity team in Canal Winchester, Ohio, Guiler amassed more than 1400 points and 500 assists en route to a .760 career win percentage. In his senior campaign, Guiler earned All-State honors for leading his team to the only Final 4 appearance in school history, but the 25-2 season ended with a heart-breaking loss to eventual champion, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary's and their rising phenom, LeBron James. Guiler earned valedictorian honors and received the Columbus Dispatch's student-athlete of the year award for his character and contributions on the court, in the classroom, and throughout the community.
